What does GOTS certification mean?

GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard. It verifies organic fibre content and sets environmental and social requirements for textile processing, supported by independent certification.

What it covers

Where an organic-farming certificate looks at how the cotton is grown, GOTS follows the fibre after harvest — through spinning, knitting, dyeing and sewing — and checks that every processing step meets its ecological and social criteria.

Under the Nile and GOTS

Our baby apparel is made by NatureTex for Clothes S.A.E., SEKEM's textile company in Egypt, certified to GOTS by ICEA (licence ICEA-TX-273, certificate GOTS 2012-008/03C) for babies' apparel. You can view the certificate here.

Good to know: GOTS is a certification of the factory and its product scope; it is not a promise that every individual item carries the label. See all our certificates on the Certifications page.
